The AJ Bell Great North 5k kicks off the Great North Run weekend on Friday 6 September 2024 and entries are now open!

Whether you’re new to running or you’ve clocked up hundreds of miles already, the AJ Bell Great North 5k is a perfect course to take in the scenic views across both Newcastle and Gateshead, including the famous Tyne Bridge. Starting on the Newcastle side, runners cross the Swing Bridge and along the river in Gateshead before heading back across the Millennium Bridge to finish on the Newcastle side.

The Friday evening event provides a party atmosphere, and the Quayside is the perfect setting to raise the curtain on the Great North Run weekend and continue the celebrations long after you cross the finish line.
